In 1994, at age 20, Brian self-produced his debut album, Long Night Out. Brian Culbertson: Contemporary jazz/R&B/funk musician, instrumentalist, producer and performer, Brian Culbertson always brings his very best – and brings the very best out of others – in all of his broad-ranging musical endeavors. Blanchard is also artistic director of the Thelonious Monk Institute’s Master’s program and the University Of Miami Frost School Of Music’s Henry Mancini Institute. The Big Easy native began playing trumpet in elementary school and studied at the famed New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts. As an acclaimed bandleader and composer, Blanchard scores have been featured in films by such directors as Spike Lee and George Lucas. The Jazz Café also features covered seating on the back patio of the North Bank Pavilion. The Jazz Café at North Bank Pavilion will showcase local and regional jazz artists on the riverfront stage set against the city skyline. This year’s festival will offer jazz fans 44 live performances showcasing internationally renowned jazz artists like Brian Culbertson, Terence Blanchard, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Earl Klugh, The Soul Rebels and Jessy J., and top local jazz talent. The 35th Annual Columbus Jazz and Rib Festival returns to the North Bank park area along the Scioto River downtown for a weekend of live jazz (and ribs) July 18th through July 20th.
